In the 1970s,in Wuhan city. Xingzi,from a clerisy family,goes to work in the railway station of loading and unloading after graduating from middle-high school. In the railway station,she meets Lu Xi from a righty family. As the days go on,they fall in love with each other. But Lu Xi feels humble about his background and means to give up his dreams. They quarrel with each other. Once Lu Xi gets drunk and sleeps with Shui Xiang,a beautiful girl also working at the railway station. Afterwards,Xingzi enters a university,and Lu Xi is promoted to be the new stationmaster. Lu Xi expresses his feelings before Xingzi,but the latter declines his love as she can't forgive his mistake. Lu Xi becomes desperate about love and his marriage is on the rocks and his career fails. He hits the bottle everyday and comes down with a cancer. while at the same time Xingzi is going to marry.
